Job Title: Caretaker Maintenance Position
Job Classification: Non-exempt Hourly Administrative Staff
Summary: The Care-taker works as a team with the Board, SWS Staff and volunteers to ensure that the SWS campus and buildings are in good repair and safe. The Care-taker conducts regular inspections to ensure grounds and buildings are in good repairs, fire extinguishers are current and that HVAC systems are working. The Care-taker also coordinates with professionals such as plumbers, contractors, electricians, water manager, and fire chief when on campus.
Reports to: Administrative Director
Duties/responsibilities:
Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
Perform preventative maintenance
Care of landscaping and garden – including weed eating, mowing, and irrigation
Handle basic repairs and maintenance
Oversee contractors when professional repairs are necessary
Install and fix playground equipment
Repair machines, equipment, or structures as necessary
Take care of trash and recycling
Morning safety check – and turn on HVAC systems as needed
Supervise volunteers
Attend Monthly Site Meetings and 3 work days a year
Act as responder to off hours fire and safety alarms
Outfit, organize and maintain toolshed
Assign age appropriate tasks to children as needed by Faculty
Actively participate on Parent Square, to be aware of upcoming events
Follow the Site Spreadsheet, add to it and move finished items
Required Skills/abilities:
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, mowers and weed cutters.
Organized
Self-starter
Desired Skills/abilities:
Ability to create and follow project time-lines
Ability to work with students
Required Education and experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience performing routine maintenance.
Desired Education and experience:
Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
Physical requirements: Ability to walk on uneven terrain, lift 75 pounds, climb ladders
Time, weeks/year: 20 – 25 hours a week. Possible 50% remission.
Compensation and Benefits: (pay range) $18-$26/hour, Year round.
