Job Title: Eurythmy Specialty Block Teacher

Job Classification:  Part time/hourly

Summary: The Eurythmy Teacher leads and instructs individual classes at Sierra Waldorf School.

Reports to:

Faculty and Specialty Mentoring groups,  specific questions/paperwork to Admin

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Only children in care

Duties/responsibilities:

  • Instructing each kinder and grades class; 3 kinders half period once per week, 1-2 one hr.  per week, 3, 4/5, 6, 7/8 two hours per class per week.
  • Meeting weekly 1 hour with Specialty mentoring group.
  • Faculty Meeting Participation 1 hour weekly.
  •  3 hours weekly for class preparation 
  • Yard Duty: 2 periods weekly
  • Write up a Year End report per class describing core content of the program provided and how it meets the child of that age/dev.cycle.
  • Admin reporting as needed

Required Skills/abilities:

  • Mandated Reporter training
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • TB clearance
  • COVID vaccination or weekly testing/reporting
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Holds students without the presence of the class teacher
  • Manages the behavior of students
  • Classroom management skills
  • Ability to work independently

  • Record keeping skills 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality 
  • A love for teaching and the ability to build a trusting relationship with students and colleagues
  • Mentor with specialty teacher group for disciplinary techniques and specifics per student 
  • Report to teacher when action was needed/taken with a student
  • Creating and maintaining an aesthetic and hygienic classroom environment

Desired Skills/abilities:

  • Experience and enthusiasm for working with and supervising children.
  • Behavior management skills inline with Waldorf pedagogy.
  • Experience/willingness to create and facilitate class performances, Winter Pageant, and other inspired adult education events.
  • Handwork skills for garment mending and preparations for performances. 
  • Ability to modify/ adapt lessons when/if accompanist unavailable.

Desired Education and experience: 

Eurythmy training in any of the following areas:

  •   Pedagogical eurythmy
  •   Therapeutic eurythmy
  •   Performance eurythmy

 

Ongoing self-development with focus on Waldorf approaches to child development, games, other curriculum based activities.

Physical requirements:

  • The ability to lift 25lbs.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • The ability to see and respond to emergency situations.
